QUETTA: Unidentified gunmen shot dead a local businessman in the provincial capital on Wednesday night.

Reacting to the murder of Salahuddin Noorzai, the family and relatives of the victim staged a protest sit-in near Killi Gul Muhammad by placing his body on the Airport Road and blocking it for all types of traffic. The blockade caused major traffic disruption across the area.

The protesting family members and other relatives reopened the road after local officials assured them that murderers of the businessman would be brought to justice.

Reports indicate that the victim’s son was also kidnapped by unidentified abductors a few months ago.

Following assurances from authorities concerned, the victim’s funeral prayers were offered on Thursday, and he was laid to rest in a local graveyard.

Police have registered a case and are investigating.
