ISLAMABAD: Supervisory officers of the capital police have been directed to implement all the standard operating procedures (SOPs) to counter any potential security threat.

In an operational commanders’ conference at the Central Police Office, Islamabad police chief Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi directed that security arrangements at sensitive and important locations be strengthened. Besides, all security SOPs be strictly implemented and proactive measures taken to address any potential threat.

He directed all officers to continuously monitor the security situation in their respective areas and ensure an immediate and effective response to any emergency.

During the conference, the overall law and order situation in the capital, enforcement of law, protection of citizens’ lives and property, security arrangements, crime prevention and public service delivery were reviewed.

Officers presented reports on the performance of various departments and field units, ongoing measures to prevent crime and the prevailing security situation. Various proposals were also discussed to effectively address existing challenges and further improve the standard of policing.

The IGP directed the officers to adopt an effective and coordinated operational strategy for maintaining law and order and preventing crime. He directed that police presence and monitoring in the field be further strengthened and that indiscriminate action against criminal elements be intensified.

He also emphasised further improving public service delivery and directed officers to ensure the timely resolution of citizens’ complaints, easy access to police services and courteous and professional conduct with the public.

The police chief stated that ensuring the rule of law, protecting the lives and property of citizens, and providing them with a safe and peaceful environment are among the foremost priorities of the police. He reaffirmed that better police services would be provided to citizens through modern, effective policing, improved operational strategies and a strengthened command-and-control system.
