BAHAWALPUR: A joint team of the Crime Control Department (CCD) , Elite Force and Lodhran district police claimed to have killed a dangerous dacoit during a broad daylight encounter near Raja Ram on Thursday.
According to a police spokesperson, as the encounter between the CCD, police and several suspects began, Lodhran DPO Beenish Fatima also reached the scene and supervised the hours-long operation.
He claimed the deceased suspect, identified as Siddique, was involved in 37 cases at a number of police stations in the region. A motorcycle and a pistol with bullets were recovered from the deceased’s possession and his body was shifted to the Lodhran DHQ Hospital.
RAPE: A case has been registered against a rickshaw driver for allegedly abducting and raping a girl at gunpoint and keeping her in illegal confinement in the suburbs of Chak No 193/EB of Vehari.
According to the police, the daughter of one R hired a rickshaw near her home to take her to a private hospital where she worked. She claimed that the rickshaw driver N took her to an outhouse at gunpoint, raped her and kept her there for two days. After she freed herself and managed to reach home, the family informed the police.
The Saddar police registered the case on her father’s complaint and sent the victim for medical examination.
Police said raids were being conducted to arrest the suspect.
DOUBLE MURDER: A husband and wife were allegedly shot dead over an old enmity by three persons at Chak No 203/ EB in Vehari district on Wednesday night.
According to the police, Ali Muhammad and his wife Surraya Bibi lived alone as their children were abroad. Police claimed that brothers Tayyub, Zahid and Shahid wanted to take revenge for the murders of their brother Mazhar Baghdad and their father. Police claimed that they entered the house of the couple during night time and killed them.
On Thursday, the Gaggo Mandi police along with forensic and crime scene units reached the scene and collected evidence and sent the bodies for postmortem, while a double murder case was registered against the suspects. No arrest had been made till the filing of this report.
In another murder case, unidentified car riders shot dead one Zafar Iqbal (40) on Hasilpur Road in the limits of Luddan police station. Police registered a case against unidentified suspects and sent the body to the hospital.
