QUETTA: Balochistan Home Minister Ziaullah Langove has said that the government has never refused to hold dialogue, but negotiations cannot take place under the threat of guns.
He urged all stakeholders to choose the path of education, development and peace instead of violence and destruction.
He made these remarks on Sunday, saying there was a need to move beyond debates over who should or should not be engaged in talks and instead focus on the development, peace, prosperity and better future of Balochistan and Pakistan.
Rejection of violence
“We must collectively reject terrorism, violence and hatred,” he said, adding that the designs of elements seeking to destroy peace, divide society and harm innocent people would not be allowed to succeed.
The minister said the real strength of the country lay in unity, education, hard work, awareness and love for the homeland. He urged young people to make the pen their weapon, pursue education and play their role in shaping the future of the country through parliamentary and democratic struggle.
Mr Langove said developed countries had progressed because their people stood with the state and constitutional institutions. He added that there was no example in the world where the state system had been weakened in response to those taking up arms against the state and Constitution.
He said the doors of dialogue remained open to those who accepted Pakistan’s Constitution and state system, but no one could be allowed to impose their demands through guns, terrorism or violence.
“We have to build Balochistan and Pakistan for future generations where peace, education, employment, development and prosperity prevail,” he said.
