CHARSADDA: Police have booked four persons for allegedly gang-raping a married woman in Azizabad area in the limits of Sardheri police station.

Officials said the woman, a resident of Azizabad, reported that she was travelling from her in-laws’ residence to her parents’ house when four armed men allegedly intercepted her near Ibrahimzai Road.

She alleged that one of the suspects stood guard with a firearm while the others took her to nearby fields and assaulted her.

Police said the woman did not immediately report the incident out of fear and approached Sardheri police station after her husband returned home.

On her complaint, police registered a case under Section 375-A of the Pakistan Penal Code against the four nominated suspects — Mishal, Taimur, Suleman and Naseer.

Police said samples had been collected from the woman and sent to the hospital for medical examination and forensic analysis. They added that several teams had been constituted to arrest the suspects.

Police sources said all four nominated suspects had fled after the incident and raids were being conducted at different places to arrest them.
