GUJRAT: A rickshaw driver who repeatedly raped an eight-year-old special child (schoolgirl) during pick and drop was killed allegedly by the firing of his own accomplice in the Saddar Gujranwala police area on Tuesday.

The suspect was wanted by Saddar Gujranwala police in the case registered against him.

A spokesman for Gujranwala police said the suspect, Rasheed, along with his unidentified accomplice opened fire at the police party to escape arrest. However, he was shot dead by the firing of his own accomplice who fled the scene.

Police shifted the dead body to hospital for autopsy whereas a pistol as well as motorcycle-rickshaw used for the pick and drop were recovered from the deceased.

Another case has been registered against the deceased for attacking police.

ACCIDENT: Two persons were injured when a motorcycle-rickshaw fell into a roadside drain on the GT Road near the industrial area.

Rescue officials said the three-wheeler had fallen into the seven foot deep open drain.

As a result, 38-year-old Sikandar and 36-year-old Mohsin were injured.

The rescuers shifted them to Aziz Bhatti Shaheed Teaching Hospital and retrieved the motorcycle-rickshaw from the drain.
