ISLAMABAD: China will cooperate in establishing a modern law enforcement centre in Pakistan, it was agreed during a meeting between Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi and Chinese Vice Minister of Public Security Gao Qi on Wednesday.

The initiative is aimed at modernising Pakistan’s law enforcement system through improved infrastructure, technology and specialised training.

The two sides discussed Pakistan-China bilateral relations and joint counter-terrorism and counter-narcotics measures. They also agreed to enhance cooperation in police training exchange programmes, as well as modern technology and equipment.

The Chinese vice minister appreciated Pakistan’s sacrifices and resolve in the fight against terrorism.

Mr Naqvi said the law enforcement centre would be another bright symbol of Pakistan-China friendship. He added that Chinese AI-based technology and equipment could be of great help in dealing with security challenges. “We want to further expand cooperation related to internal security,” he said.
