KHYBER: Awami National Party (ANP) on Friday held a demonstration in Bara to demand an early return of all displaced families to Tirah valley along with prompt registration of all unregistered families.

Held at Khyber Chowk, the demonstration was addressed by ANP MPA from Bajaur Nisar Baz, party Khyber president Abdur Raziq and leaders Haji Sherin, Sadiq Chiragh, Abdul Wahid and Abdul Wahab Afridi.

They said that hundreds of displaced families were without any financial assistance as their SIM cards were not yet activated, while a majority of them also awaited registration.

The ANP leaders demanded of the provincial government to announce a final and confirmed schedule for the return of displaced families with adequate compensation to all those families whose lands were acquired for the construction of security check posts and link roads along with offices for the district administration departments.

They urged the provincial government to allow Tirah farmers in different parts of the valley to harvest their ripe crops, warning they will incur huge losses if these crops are not timely harvested.

The ANP leaders also demanded of the provincial government to announce a comprehensive financial package for the returning families to enable them to rebuild damaged houses and revitalise their agricultural activities, which was one of the main sources of their annual income.
