LAHORE: Adviser to Prime Minister on Industries and Production Haroon Akhtar Khan said on Friday the government would unveil new auto policy shortly.

Talking to the media on the opening of a three-day 21st Pakistan International Auto Show (PIAS) 2026 at Expo Centre, he said the policy will be aimed at incentivising all stakeholders, including auto part makers. The Small and Medium Enterprises Development Authority was participating in the PIAS-2026 as a strategic partner of the Pakistan Association of Automotive Parts & Accessories Manufacturers (PAAPAM).

Foreign dignitaries from China and other countries joined Pakistani industry leaders and businessmen at the inauguration ceremony.

Haroon Akhtar said the government was committed to transforming Pakistan into a competitive manufacturing economy by empowering MSMEs and strengthening industrial value chains.

Earlier, Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz inaugurated the show at the Expo Centre.

She held an informal meeting with industrialists associated with the automobile industry and appreciated their contribution to national economic development.

She said the automotive industry was an important source of industrial development, investment and employment, adding the Punjab government was committed to promoting local production, investment, technology and innovation.
