KARACHI: Renowned Pakistani scientist Prof Dr Atta-ur-Rahman has been elected the president of the Pakistan Academy of Sciences (PAS).
He has previously served twice as the academy’s president, from 2003 to 2006 and again from January 2011. He has now been elected for a third time, unopposed.
Established in 1953, the PAS is a premier non-governmental society, which serves as a scientific advisory body to the government and promotes the advancement of science and technology for the socio-economic development of the country.
