EU’s Kallas discusses Hormuz reopening, Iran diplomacy with Araghchi

European Union foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas has discussed diplomatic prospects and maritime security with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, pointing out the need to ensure free navigation.

In a post on X, Kallas said that “navigation must be free and unimpeded, both in the Strait of Hormuz and the Bab al-Mandab Strait.”

“I also raised domestic repression inside Iran, including the sharp rise in executions and death sentences,” she said.
