Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian says the country does not want rivalry with its neighbours, but cooperation.
“We want to have strong neighbours in waters, in the Strait of Hormuz,” he says, addressing the UN General Assembly. “We cannot let some have free access and gain their interests from a waterway, while at the same time using that waterway to impose their aggressions upon us.”
Pezeshkian laments that Iran has been denied access to “our own waterway”, but the US keeps supplying “deadly military technology” to lands surrounding the strait.
“We will not succumb to that,” he stresses.
