Oman’s Maritime Security Centre says that the Antigua and Barbuda-flagged merchant vessel Cape Dao was attacked off the country’s east coast.
In a statement posted on X, the agency says Oman’s navy launched an evacuation operation and successfully rescued 27 crew members from the vessel, struck 2.5 nautical miles off the coast of the Musandam governorate.
“The incident resulted in a fire breaking out in the engine room and the death of one crew member,” the agency adds.
