SAHIWAL: The Lahore High Court, Multan Bench, has admitted a writ petition challenging the detention of 24 PTI office bearers, leaders and workers from Sahiwal tehsil under the Maintenance of Public Order (MPO) Ordinance.

The court directed Sahiwal Deputy Commissioner Samiullah Farooq to submit a report by Sept 24 (today).

According to sources, around 47 PTI workers and office-bearers had been detained and sent to Sahiwal Central Prison for 30 days under Section 3 of the MPO Ordinance on the orders of the deputy commissioner.

The petition was filed on behalf of 24 PTI leaders and workers, including Bahawal R. Sher, Javed Iqbal, Shoaib Khalid, Tanveer Hussain, Muhammad Kaleemullah, Muhammad Nazir, Muhammad Azhar, Tahir Naseem, Pervaiz Akhtar alias Tahir Pervaiz, Agha Qamar Abbas, Zahoor Ahmad, Mansoor Iftikhar Hashmi, Mahmood Iftikhar Hashmi, Usama Abrar, Muzaffar Ali, Muhammad Khalil, Mian Muhammad Sarwar, Fazal Kareem, Muhammad Jameel, Hassan Abbas, Qamar Sial, Majid and Khalid Mahmood.
