Iraqi Prime Minister Ali al-Zaidi says the country is working to develop new energy lines and corridors and diversify supply routes with regional countries amid disruptions in the Strait of Hormuz.
Speaking at the UN General Assembly in New York, al-Zaidi has expressed concern about maritime navigation due to the conflict in the Gulf, adding that Iraq is trying to “contain the subsequent risks”.
“We are working to diversify our oil export ports and develop energy lines and corridors linking Iraq, Turkiye, Jordan and Syria in order to reach global markets with the aim of contributing to energy security and diversifying supply routes,” he adds.
