ISLAMABAD: A civil court in Islamabad has issued bailable arrest warrants for the chairman of Capital Development Authority (CDA) over failure to implement a court decree concerning affected residents who claimed that they had been denied benefits under the authority’s rehabilitation policy for nearly three decades.

Civil Judge Naseerud Din passed the order during the hearing of a petition seeking execution of the court’s decree.

During the proceedings, counsel for the affected parties, Barrister Adil Aziz Qazi and others, submitted that although the CDA had acquired the petitioners’ houses, they had not received the benefits promised under the rehabilitation policy even after 28 years.

The lawyers told the court that the decree had still not been fully implemented and sought directions for its effective and complete execution.

They further pointed out that the CDA chairman had failed to appear before the court despite being served notices on three consecutive occasions.

Taking note of the continued non-compliance, the civil court issued bailable arrest warrants for the CDA chairman and directed the relevant authorities to ensure implementation of the decree. The court warned that failure to comply with its directions could lead to further legal action.
