The US military has denied earlier statements from Iran’s Revolutionary Guard saying it has captured an advanced US underwater vehicle conducting surveillance in the Strait of Hormuz.
US Centcom spokesman Captain Tim Hawkins tells Al Jazeera that the US maintains “positive control of all of our operational drone assets” and called the IRGC’s claim “clearly desperate”.
The IRGC Navy had described the unmanned vessel as an “advanced submersible called Remus 600” and said it was “in the hands of the force’s specialists to retrieve its information”.
