QUETTA: The National Party (NP) central committee in its meeting on Friday called for broad-based political dialogue, constitutional supremacy, and parliamentary sovereignty to develop a consensus-based national course for strengthening the federation and democratic institutions.

NP President Dr Abdul Malik Baloch, who chaired the meeting, cautioned political leaders against policies that deepen mistrust. He emphasised that restoring democracy, respecting federal principles, and engaging all national stakeholders were essential to resolving the country’s political and economic challenges.

The situation in Balochistan and KP, he said, was particularly dangerous. The writ of the government had weakened in several areas, while political activity faced restrictions and parliament, democratic institutions, media and other state institutions were facing challenges. The NP leader said the country’s problems could not be resolved through further administrative divisions or the use of force, but through restoration of democracy, respect for federal principles and political dialogue.
