TAXILA: An additional sessions court here ordered the recovery of a Peshawar woman allegedly kept in unlawful confinement after she was brought to Wah Cantonment on the pretext of securing employment, and directed that she be sent back to her native city along with her daughter.

The order was passed by Additional Sessions Judge Muhammad Azam on a petition moved by the daughter of the woman, seeking the recovery of her mother.

According to the petition, the victim was allegedly brought from Peshawar to Officers Colony, Wah Cantonment, by two persons on the pretext of arranging a well-paid job for her. The petitioner alleged that her mother was subsequently handed over to a man residing in Bajar village and that a purportedly forged nikahnama (marriage contract) was also prepared.

On receipt of the petition, the additional sessions judge directed the station house officer of Wah Cantonment police station to recover the woman and produce her before the court.

Police subsequently recovered the victim and produced her before the court in compliance with the judicial direction.

During the proceedings, counsel for the petitioner submitted that the recovered woman should be allowed to return to Peshawar with her daughter. The counsel requested the court to facilitate her return to her family.

After hearing the submissions and considering the matter before it, the court ordered that the woman be sent to Peshawar along with her daughter.
