RAWALPINDI: In view of the prevailing security situation, special security measures have been implemented around Central Jail Adiala with the deployment of over 150 police, Elite Force and Dolphin Force personnel.

Under a special security plan, 160 police personnel, including three sections of Elite Force and one team from the Dolphin Force, are patrolling around the jail to ensure foolproof security.

The Adiala jail is the most sensitive location where dangerous suspects have been detained and an attempt to free them may be made because of the current state of security across the country and the surge in terrorism cases.

The district administration and police have been directed to remain on high alert round the clock and take extra security measures. The police have been instructed to ensure that no legal violations occur and to promptly report any such violations to the relevant police station and senior officers.

As part of the tightened security, other than the government vehicles, all private vehicles transporting wheat/other goods will be subjected to complete search. Police officials performing duty at police pickets will be wearing bulletproof jackets and helmets. One of the police officials will be equipped with G-3, the other will be having an SMG and the third will be keeping a semi-automatic gun.

In the outer cordon, one section of Elite Force and Dolphin Force will be patrolling around the jail in line with the SOP while police deployed at pickets established outside the jail’s gate No 1 will be equipped with anti-riot tools and will perform duty from 7am to 3pm and from 3pm to 11pm.
