CHARSADDA: A senior official of the Shabqadar Tehsil Municipal Administration (TMA) has sought police action against eight people, including district Zakat committee chairman Muzammil Shah, for allegedly entering the TMA office with armed men, breaking the lock of a room, damaging office property and threatening employees.
The official submitted a written application to the SHO of Shabqadar police station after the incident on Monday.
According to the application, Mr Shah and other nominated persons allegedly reached the TMA office without any lawful authority or permission and forcibly broke the lock of an office room. The application further alleged that the men damaged some office equipment, broke windowpanes and threatened TMA employees with serious consequences.
The TMA official described the incident as an unauthorised interference in government premises, saying public property was damaged and employees were intimidated while performing their official duties.
Besides Mr Shah, the application nominated Attaullah Khan, Hamid Ehsan, Haris Khan, Farhad Khan, former nazim Mukammal Shah, Zakat officer Liaquat Khan and Mohibullah as the attackers.
The official said CCTV cameras installed at the TMA office had recorded the incident and that the footage would be provided to police for investigation.
When contacted, Shabqadar police said they would register an FIR on the basis of the written application submitted by the TMA official against district Zakat committee chairman Muzammil Shah and the other nominated persons.
Police said the case would be registered under sections 506, 427 and 486 of the Pakistan Penal Code.
They said the available CCTV footage would also be examined as part of the investigation.
Copies of the application were also sent to the Charsadda deputy commissioner, regional municipal officer in Peshawar, the Shabqadar assistant commissioner and the DSP.
The people nominated in the application were not immediately available for their comments on the allegations.
Further details about the circumstances leading to the incident were not immediately available.
