GUJRAT: Two female dancers, who had gone to perform at an event held at an outhouse in Thapla area in Kharian tehsil, were allegedly gang-raped by seven men, who also snatched cash from them.
The incident allegedly occurred in the wee hours of Tuesday in Kharian Saddar police precincts.
The complainant, ‘R’, a resident of Khayalipur, Gujranwala city, a professional dancer, told the police that she, along with another dancer, S, also of Gujranwala, had gone to the outhouse of a suspect, N, in Thapla area, to perform at a private function.
She alleged that after the event ended, the outhouse owner and six other men took both of them hostage and gang-raped them. She further alleged that the suspects also snatched Rs80,000 they had been paid for the dance performance and hurled life threats at them.
A spokesman for the Gujrat police says all nominated suspects have been arrested and the medical examination of both women has also been conducted, adding that further investigations are underway.
SHOT DEAD: A man and his nephew were shot dead when armed attackers opened fire on a cattle shed, following a dispute during a friendly volleyball match at Musapur village in Gujranwala Saddar police precincts.
The police sources say that Shahzaib Gujjar had an altercation with Shahid Iqbal of Vehari, who had come to the village to visit his grandparents, during a friendly volleyball match. The issue was apparently resolved and both returned home.
However, Shahzaib later returned, along with a dozen armed men, and opened indiscriminate fire on some locals present at the cattle shed belonging to Shahid’s relatives.
As a result, one Mansha and his uncle Umar Deen were critically injured and died on the spot, whereas the attackers fled the scene. The bodies were shifted to the Gujranwala Teaching Hospital by Rescue 1122 teams and were later handed over to the victims’ families after autopsy.
The police have registered a case against 11 nominated and 5 unidentified suspects under sections 302, 109, 148 and 149 of the Pakistan Penal Code on the report of Asghar, a brother of Mansha.
The complainant said in the FIR that the suspects had an old enmity with the victims.
KILLED: A man allegedly gunned down a 24-year-old youth and injured his own wife (23) over suspicion of having an affair in Saib area of Kamoke town of Gujranwala district on Tuesday.
As per reports, Sajid reportedly suspected his wife Chanda of having relations with a youth, Kashif, and the couple had reportedly been living in separation.
When Sajid allegedly saw his wife with Kashif, he opened fire killing Kashif on the spot. The woman sustained four bullet injuries and was said to be in a critical condition.
Police and Rescue officials reached the spot and shifted the dead body and the injured to the Kamoke THQ Hospital where doctors later conducted an autopsy and handed over the body to the heirs.
A case has been registered against the suspect, who fled the scene after the incident.
A Gujranwala Police spokesperson said that investigation of the case had been handed over to the Crime Control Department (CCD).
