GUJRAT: A special judge of anti-corruption court on Tuesday dismissed post-arrest bail plea of former superintendent of district jail Gujranwala in a fraud case of Rs45 million.

Suspect Azhar Javed Cheema had filed a post-arrest bail plea in the local court of Gujranwala. However, the judge dismissed the bail application.

The Gujranwala ACE had booked and arrested Azhar Javed Cheema more than a month ago on the charges of misuse of authority and defrauding an expatriate Pakistani of Rs45m to help him get a no objection certificate (NOC) for a housing society from a government department.

During the investigation of the case, the ACE claimed to have recovered a sum of Rs45m from the suspect and handed over to the complainant.
