SUKKUR: A 55-year-old man and his five-year-old son were shot dead by armed assailants near the Qadri Shakh (irrigation canal), within the jurisdiction of the Nabi Shah Wagan police station, in the Dakhan area of Shikarpur district, on Tuesday.

According to initial reports, the victims — identified as Ghulam Hussain Jaffari and his minor son, Abdul Sattar Jaffari, residents of Ghulam Hussain Jaffari village — were travelling on a motorcycle when armed men opened fire on them. Both sustained multiple bullet wounds and died at the scene.

Police said the incident appeared to be linked to some old enmity between two rival groups of cousins over an alleged honour-related dispute. Reports indicated that Ghulam Hussain was taking his ailing son to Sukkur for medical treatment when they were attacked.

Police reached the scene and launched an investigation. However, no FIR had been registered by the time this report was filed.
