KARACHI: A mother of five children was killed allegedly by her brothers-in-law in Qasim Town, near Bhains Colony, on Tuesday.
Sukhan SHO Irfan Ali Sahito said that the suspects, Naimatullah and his brother Ghulamullah, entered a house and stabbed their sister-in-law, Zariyat, 35, to death.The officer said the victim was living with her daughter and son-in-law as her estranged husband, Allah Dino, had reportedly moved to his native home in Shikarpur.
The SHO said that during the preliminary probe, it transpired that the murder might be an outcome of the so-called honour. However, the police are waiting for heirs to lodge an FIR to initiate formal proceedings.
The body was shifted to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) for medico-legal formalities.
Milkman shot dead in Bhains Colony
A milkman was shot dead in Bhains Colony on Tuesday.
Area SHO Irfan Ali Sahito said that Mehmood, 35, was shot and killed by suspects in Mehmood Goth.
He said the victim originally hailed from Shikarpur district. He said that around one month ago, people belonging to the Jatoi tribe had attacked his village for some unknown reason. During the exchange of fire, one person was shot dead. He said the heirs of the deceased had reportedly killed Mehmood in Karachi to take revenge. The body was shifted to the JPMC for medico-legal formalities.
Body found from Surjani drain
A partially decomposed body of a man was recovered from a drain in Surjani Town on Tuesday, police and rescue services officials said.
They added that the body was found floating in the water in Yaru Goth. The police said it was a few days old. The corpse was shifted to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for medico-legal formalities and identification.
Woman killed as trailer hits bike
A young woman was killed while her two brothers were injured when a trailer hit a motorcycle near Jinnah Bridge.
A traffic police official said that three siblings were travelling on a motorcycle. They were on their way from Jinnah Bridge towards ICI Chowk when the trailer (Z-3805) hit them from behind. As a result, Aliza Khurram, 23, sustained critical injuries and died on the spot.
The officer said the driver, Habibullah, was involved in rash and negligent driving. He was arrested by the Baghdadi police for investigation. The body was shifted to the Dr Ruth Pfau Civil Hospital Karachi for medico-legal formalities.
