Do students need mobile phones?

This is regarding the article “Do students need mobile phones?” by Muhammad Yawar Shirazi (YW, November 28, 2015). The article was well-written and described the role of mobile phones in a student’s life.

I agree with the writer that mobiles are not meant for children as keeping mobile phones prevent children from doing healthy activities. Instead they get engaged in games and on social networking apps.

It is my request to the YW team to publish more useful articles like this because they teach children about what is right and wrong.

Events need to be held in Hyderabad

Newspapers and magazines have always served as a bridge between rulers and the common men. Keeping in view this concept, I would like to highlight a serious issue that despite being the second largest city of Sindh, Hyderabad is not given much importance in terms of social and educational events.

It is quite common to see many social and educational festivals, events and gatherings taking place in other cities, there are hardly any such events held in Hyderabad. The city is not given its due respect, thus its youth gets few avenues to prove themselves.

So it is my request to the concerned authorities to focus on Hyderabad and arrange co-curricular, social and educational events.

A grandfather’s prayer

This is regarding the story “A grandfather’s prayer” by Asra Sajid (YW, November 28, 2015). I agree with the writer that if we are lucky to have our grandparents’ prayers, we have the most precious treasure in the world.

We should respect and love our grandparents and as they are old and always help them in their chores.

Climate change is real

This is with reference to the cover story “Climate change is real” by Ambreen Arshad (YW, December 5, 2015). I was shocked to read all the information and felt sad that how the Earth’s climate is deteriorating day by day and it is mostly due to our careless attitude.

So it is my request to all the readers to do their part in whichever way they can to be environment friendly. For instance, sorting discarded stuff, that is glass and batteries, from edible things that are eaten by stray animals, and also planting trees.

These are the easiest things that almost all of us can do. If there will be more trees in the city we will be able to lessen the heat wave effect.
