Shahlyla Baloch passed away

The news about the tragic death of Shahlyla Baloch is very depressing for the entire nation.

Shahlyla Baloch had earned a great name in football and was the first Pakistani woman to have scored a hat-trick abroad.

The news of her death shocked us all, and it is very sad for the women’s football team of Pakistan to lose such a great player.

My grades don’t define my intelligence

This is regarding the article “My grades don’t define my intelligence” by Madiha Shamim (YW, September 17). I enjoyed reading the article. It is a fact unfortunately, that people try to judge others by their appearance and grades, and not by what they really are.

In our religion Islam, every person is worth and precious because of his/her good deeds and not the marks one gets in exams.

It is wrong to judge anyone, one should always think positive about others, whether they top or fail.

Mother’s advice

This is with reference to the story “Mother’s advice” by Laiba Shakil (YW, September 10).

The story was written very well and had a wonderful lesson and I totally I agreed with the writer.

We always think that we are not kids anymore, so we don’t need our parent’s advice because we can do anything ourselves, while the fact remains that parents are our best protectors. No matter how old we get, they will still be older to us.

School should start late in the morning

This is regarding the article “School should start late in the morning” by Haris Javed (YW, September 17).

I loved reading this viewpoint as it was brilliantly written, perhaps the writer was penning down the actual thoughts of a student.

I agree with the writer that schools should start late in the morning so that students don’t have to hurry and have ample time to get fresh, have breakfast and get ready.

However, it is important to keep in mind that in summers it is too hot even in the morning.

So, in my opinion, schools should start early in summers and late in winters.

In the same issue, the article “My grades don’t define my intelligence” by Madiha Shamim was an amazing write-up. I agree with all the views of the writer.

It is true that in our country grades are given priority over intelligence.
