Five new superheroes called The Unbeatables!

Superheroes of a new kind have made a debut in The Unbeatables, but these crime fighters don’t just live with hidden superpowers, they also have a hidden disability in common — an inflammatory bowel disease.

The comic was shown for the first time at MCM London Comic to show what people with the condition go through day in and day out. The Unbeatables was created by Marvel Custom Solutions with help from IBD patients from across the world. So who are these five unbeatables?

Luminaria has the power to project her aura to sooth people panic. She does not suffer from IBD, but is a nurse in Singapore and so comes in handy when her friends aren’t feeling at their best.

Datawave has the power to access information on the internet using her mind. She was recently diagnosed with ulcerative colitis and uses information on the web to help understand her condition and support others.

Rubblerouser is able to project concussive bursts of pressure to crumble concrete and bend metal. He’s very close to his brother who has Crohn’s disease.

Samarium has an impenetrable armour coating that gives him enhanced strength. He might be tough on the outside but on the inside, he struggles with ulcerative colitis.

Switchback is able to be in two places at once by projecting duplicate versions of himself from the future. He has Crohn’s Disease and, as the oldest member of the group, has years of experience dealing with it.

Nicieza said: “Creating a dramatic adventure story that showcases their struggles and their ultimate triumphs, has been a really rewarding experience.”

A Furby movie ... what, really?

TWC-Dimension has announced that they are going to make a movie based on Furbies — a mechanical owl-like toy that is more likely to steal your soul through its lifeless eyes than entertain you.

TWC-Dimension’s Bob Weinstein unveiled an ambitious line-up of five films already in development — one of which is a movie based on the Furby Hasbro toy line. No details are currently known about the film other than it will be a mix of live action and CGI in the same vein as Alvin and the Chipmunks or the early Smurf films. They are currently looking for a director, but Hasbro executive Josh Feldman joked that they’re out to get David Fincher.

Hasbro executive Stephen Davis believes that the movie can “resonate as a four-quadrant film,” meaning that it will appeal to all four demographics of people who just love Furbies. And if you don’t know, let us tell you that Furbies are little mechanical owl-like toys that reached a massive surge of popularity in the late 90s. The toys can blink and speak their own language before eventually ‘learning’ English from its owner.

Furbies are still being made today with new updated technology and appearances. New models even have their own apps and can connect to smartphones and tablets.
