Here is the world’s largest Game Boy!
With the recent launch of the Switch, Nintendo has blurred the line between hand-held and home consoles, creating a machine that is effectively both.
And here is a Belgian student Ilhan Unal, who has built a giant working Game Boy that would require its own airplane seat if you tried to take it on holiday with you.
Clocking in at 101cm tall, 62cm wide and 20cm deep, Ilhan’s oversized love letter to the classic machine means the 21-year-old holds the Guinness World Record for the Largest Game Boy in the world.
Designed on a computer in one week and taking a month to build, the chunky bit of kit plays any original Game Boy title — though mercifully it uses normal GB cartridges.
It even uses System Link like the good old days, so you can use a cable to connect to a friend’s regular Game Boy for awkward multiplayer action.
Describing his inspiration behind the project, the thoroughly chuffed Ilhan said: “People who are able to bring smiles to other people’s faces are generally happier than other people.”
World record horns sells for $165,000
The Guinness World Record holder for the longest horns on a bull sold for a staggering $165,000 at a Texas auction.
Richard and Jeanne Filip of Fayetteville, Texas had the winning bid at the Hudson Valentine auction in Fort Worth to take home Cowboy Tuff Chex, a seven-year-old bull that made headlines last year when his 101-inch horn spread was confirmed by Guinness World Records as the largest ever.
Woman or machine?
As technology continues to develop, the line between man and machine has become increasingly blurred. And this stunningly lifelike android woman will have you believing the line has disappeared altogether.
Footage of the robot at this year’s Tokyo Game Show in the Japanese capital has been viewed more than three million times on one social media platform alone. A number of Japanese-made and international games were on display at the convention, held annually for the last 21 years.
But this female android has stood out — despite the fact she is only a PR prop. She, along with several others of her kind, stood at the booth of Detroit: Become Human — a new PlayStation 4 video game developed by Quantic Dream, from France, and published by Japan Sony Interactive Entertainment.
The video shows stunning build detail on her face and in the movements of her limbs. In the short clip, the android smiles and waves, leaving expo-goers and social media users stunned. According to the game’s storyline, the humanoid robot is one of the state-of-the-art AP700 models — also called ‘the most reliable android’.
It rained fish in Mexico city
Officials in Northeastern Mexico shared photos of some small fish they said fell from the sky during recent rains.
Civil Protection Tamaulipas posted a pair of photos to Facebook showing small fish that fell to earth during recent rain.
“Curious case in Tampico, where there was a light rain that included small fish that literally fell from the sky,” the Facebook post said.
Experts said fish falling during rainstorms is not unheard of and sometimes occurs when a waterspout, a tornado that forms over water, pulls the fish up into the clouds, where they are kept aloft by strong winds until they fall with precipitation.
