KARACHI: A police officer investigating several cases has been dismissed from service for failing to submit a challan in a case before a judge of the Sindh High Court, who expressed extreme displeasure over his conduct, it emerged on Saturday.

A police spokesperson said that South DIG Syed Asad Raza took strict notice of the conduct of Sub-Inspector Nasir Khan, the investigating officer in 11 cases, after he failed to submit the challan within the stipulated time.

According to an order issued by the DIG on Aug 28, SI Nasir Khan had failed to submit reports under Section 173 of the criminal procedure code before the relevant courts.

The order said his failure to submit the reports showed that he had “deliberately violated the judicial policy and caused a grave miscarriage of justice”.

It said: “It is crystal clear that being a member of a government department, he is irresponsible and negligent towards his official assignment and defames the image of the police department. Therefore, he was awarded the punishment of dismissal from service.”
