RAWALPINDI: A domestic worker was strangled during a house robbery in the limits of Dhamial police, police said.

A widow, a resident of Pir Mehr Ali Shah Town, lodged an FIR with the Dhamial police saying that she is an assistant director in HEC Islamabad. She said since her husband had died six months ago, she had two sons one of whom was serving in Pakistan Army while the other one Abdul Basit, 30, is disabled by birth.

She further said that for the past two years, she had employed Mohammad Ali, 38, as a domestic worker to take care of her disabled son. She said in the FIR that she woke up after midnight on hearing noise on Thursday and went upstairs and found four unidentified persons carrying weapons were beating her domestic worker, while two of them were strangulating him with a piece of rubber pipe, while their two accomplices were punching and kicking him.

She said that on seeing her, one of the robbers held her hostage at gunpoint and then they left his servant and took her to the ground floor.

She said they looted gold jewellery worth Rs1,000,000. They also took away two mobile phones, cash and five clothes suits worth Rs18,000 with them. The robbers escaped on their two motorcycles which they had parked outside the house.

When the robbers left, she and her neighbour went to the top floor of her house and found Mohammad Ali dead as blood was pouring out from his nose.

Later, the police shifted the body to the hospital for postmortem.

Meanwhile, the body of Mohammad Ibrahim, 22, was exhumed in the Banni police area on Friday under the supervision of a magistrate the doctors’ team conducted a fresh autopsy to ascertain the real cause of his death.

Banni police SHO told Dawn that Mohammad Ibrahim, a motor mechanic was found dead in his house some two months ago.

He said the deceased was an addict and worked as a mechanic in National Market.

He said the body was exhumed after the mother of the deceased sought court orders as she was suspicious that her son was killed by two of his fellows.

The SHO said that the autopsy on the deceased’s body was carried out by a team of doctors who also collected samples from his body for analysis to ascertain the cause of his death.
