KARACHI: The family of a teenage boy who was shot dead by robbers in his home in Manghopir has refused to bury him until police arrest his killers, a senior police officer confirmed on Saturday.

On Sept 8, six robbers, including two wearing police uniforms, barged into the house of Roidad Hussain and shot his 17-year-old son, Roshan Hussain, when he came out of his room.

The victim’s family and their relatives have been protesting against the incident for the past many days and their sit-in continued on Saturday as well.

West Zone DIG Irfan Ali Baloch told Dawn that the coffin of the teenager has been shifted to the Edhi morgue, as his father has refused to bury him until the killers are arrested.

He said that a seven-member committee to investigate the case was formed and it had obtained ‘significant’ clues about the identities of the killers.

He said that during the preliminary probe, it transpired that the suspects had fled to Lodhran, Punjab, and that police teams were working in collaboration with the Punjab Police to arrest them.

The DIG said the investigators were not certain about the exact motive, as the victim’s father was not allowing the police access to the crime scene or permitting them to record statements from family.
