Coyote vs Acme celebrates never giving up
Coyote vs Acme, starring John Cena, Will Forte and Lana Condor, brings Wile E. Coyote to court as he sues ACME over the faulty products he has used to chase Road Runner.
Cena plays ACME’s confident lawyer, while Forte plays Kevin Avery, a small-time lawyer who takes on the giant company. Condor plays Kevin’s intern, Paige, who believes in their case.
The actors say the film is about confidence, resilience and never giving up, with Kevin learning from Wile E. Coyote’s endless determination. The film was shelved by Warner Bros Discovery in 2023, but Ketchup Entertainment bought the distribution rights and is now releasing it.
Wile E. Coyote remains silent, as he was in the original Road Runner cartoons, and is brought to life through animation alongside live-action actors.
Stranger Things prequel gets global release
Stranger Things: The First Shadow is coming to comic-book shelves worldwide as a graphic novel adaptation of the Tony Award-winning Broadway play.
Set in 1959 Hawkins, Indiana, the story follows teenage Joyce Byers, Jim Hopper and Bob Newby, along with Henry Creel, who arrives in town hoping for a fresh start. Henry falls for Patty Newby, but his troubled past soon brings a terrifying mystery to Hawkins. The prequel explores Henry Creel’s story before he became Vecna. The graphic novel is written by Rachel Pinnelas and illustrated by Jake Bartok, adapting the stage production.
The Broadway play is set to end on January 3, 2027, while the graphic novel is due to arrive later that month.
Barbie gets new comic series
Dark Horse Comics and Mattel have announced a new ongoing Barbie comic series, following the huge success of the 2023 live-action film.
Details of the series have not been revealed, but the first teaser artwork was created by Natalie Nardozza.
The 2023 Barbie, starring Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling, earned nearly $1.5 billion worldwide. A movie sequel has yet to happen, with reports that talks between Warner Bros and the original cast and crew have stalled.
The new Barbie comic does not yet have a release date.
