KARACHI: Robbers shot dead two persons in the Sachal and Shah Latif Town areas on Monday, police said.

The owner of an eatery was gunned down while his brother and an employee were shot and wounded in the Sachal area early on Monday morning.

The Sachal police said Shahbaz Dildar, 22, was gunned down, while his brother Gulzar Dildar, 35, and an employee, Allah Dita, 30, were wounded in Ghazi Goth.

Javed Iqbal, the brother of the restaurant owner, told the media that six armed robbers arrived at the eatery and resorted to firing. They snatched mobile phones and other valuables from the customers and also took more than Rs250,000 in cash from the counter.

While fleeing, the suspects resorted to indiscriminate fire, killing his brother and injuring another brother and their employee. Javed said they informed Madadgar-15 but the police arrived 45 minutes later, by which time the robbers had fled.

East-SSP Zubair Nazir Shaikh told Dawn that investigators were probing the exact motive behind the incident. He said the deceased’s heirs had taken the coffin to their native place in Rahim Yar Khan for burial and told the police that they would lodge an FIR later.

He said CCTV cameras installed at the restaurant were not functioning properly.

Teen shot dead by muggers

A teenager was shot dead by robbers over resistance in Shah Latif Town late on Sunday night, police, rescue services officials and relatives said.

They added that Kashif Awan, 18, was shot and killed in Sector-20-C near Khadija Masjid.

The victim’s uncle told the media that Kashif was talking to someone on his cell phone when armed pillion riders snatched it from him. As the suspects were fleeing, their bike hit children and they fell. Seeing that, Kashif tried to chase the suspects but they opened fire on him. As a result, he sustained critical bullet wounds to his chest and died on the spot. He originally hailed from Mansehra.
